About us · Where the team began

Francesco Salvador

Financial advisor for 45 years, from 1980, now retired — Giulio Salvador's father.

My story

How did I become a financial advisor?

I was born in Sarmede, in the province of Treviso, in 1952. After my accountancy diploma I spent eight years as an administrative manager, but I had liked the stock market since I was a boy: with my first salaries I bought and sold, followed the exchange and tried to understand it. When I saw that some people did this as a profession, I left administration and passed the exam to become a financial advisor.

In 1980 I joined Dival, the firm that would become RasBank and then, with the merger of Ras into the Allianz group, Allianz Bank. In Italy the profession was just beginning, and I watched it grow from the management side too: I was a district manager, a business manager and a trainer, and eventually a Senior Partner and member of the Allianz Advisors Academy. I worked as a financial advisor for 45 years and never stopped studying, with courses at Bocconi University in Milan and Cass Business School in London.

In life as in work I valued continuity: from the start I chose a firm that kept my clients' savings safe, and I stayed with it for my whole career.

My passion for this work spread to the family: first my son Giulio, then my daughter Laura chose advisory work at Allianz Bank. I am married and have five grandchildren. When we are together we don't talk about finance: I take on another role, that of grandfather.

How I worked

What I focused on

My aim was to improve my clients' well-being and peace of mind, with portfolios built around them: their goals, time horizon, age and attitude to risk. I always believed an advisor has to stay clear-headed, like a doctor who does not get swept up in a patient's emotions: say how things stand and what the right course is, and explain plainly how markets work. Not a friend, but a professional who defends the client's interests.
